I went indoor climbing here at The Banff Centre on Tuesday. Something I haven’t done for many years. Had a great instructor and a great time overall. So, to keep with the climbing theme, here’s a video game widget featuring a plumber trying to rescue a woman from some big ape:
Here’s a photo of one of my favorite fictional comic book/toy characters, Snake-Eyes, the ninja commando for the G.I. Joe team as he will appear in the 2009 movie by Stephen Sommers (The Mummy/The Mummy Returns, Deep Rising):
Looks like his costume design was inspired by the 1985 version of the character and David Michael Beck’s 2001 painting:
Here’s one of the earliest color icons for the graphics application Photoshop:
This image was pulled from The Abyss: Special Edition, which was one of the first major uses of the application developed by Thomas Knoll, and his brother John Knoll, a visual wizard at George Lucas’s Industrial Light and Magic. Photoshop 1.0 was released for the Apple Macintosh exclusively.
Despite being a ‘Mac’ guy, I actually like the tune composed using the Microsoft Windows sounds. There’s a little more depth to the tune. As a note of interest: Brian Eno composed the ubiquitous Windows 95 startup sound.
I’ve already watched the new Indiana Jones trailer about 50 times this morning, and will probably watch it at least 50 more before the day is through. This is easily my favorite film series and Raiders of the Lost Ark is probably my favorite film of all time. I look forward to Indy’s new adventure and any others that may follow.
If you haven’t seen the new trailer yet, head over to the official Indiana Jones website and download your visual ticket to adventure!
To celebrate my birthday, I decided to hike down to Bow Falls and the Bow River near The Banff Centre. The fluffy snow was falling, the weather wasn’t cold, and there was barely any wind. It made for a near perfect journey.
Here’s a short video filmed yesterday during the hike:
Whether you’re enjoying the treats, scaring the kids, dressing up for the fun of it, or watching some great Halloween themed movies, I hope you have a great All Hallow’s Eve.
And if it’s your birthday too…well have double the fun!
This year’s jack-o’lantern turned into Jack Skellington from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.
